Shussing but no walking
By Alicia
Don't write me off for dead yet! I'm still here, just not writing...or walking much. :0(
This going-back-to-work-fulltime thing has really thrown a wrench into my workout schedule. I'm still trying to finagle all the pieces into place, but I think I've finally landed on a solution on how to squeeze in the walking time. I'm not crazy about it, but it's going to have to do for now. I'm going to have to walk VERY early in the mornings, like 3:45 am early. It's either that or walk in the evenings, and I really don't like to do that because it's so easy to push it aside with other activities.
I'm up at 4:30 am most of the time anyway, so getting up earlier shouldn't be that hard, right? Oh, how I kid myself. I'm also going to start wearing my pedometer to work because I walk a heck of a lot for a job that's classified as sit-down. I will start that Monday and I'll let you know what the numbers are.
In the meantime, I do have some good news to report as far as other exercise is concerned. My son joined the ski club and every Thursday they are shussing down the hills at Mad River Mountain. So, we (meaning hubby, daughter and myself) have been meeting him at the slopes and skiing during the same time. Last night, I skied for 2 1/2 hours. Granted, I was on the bunny hill the entire time (yes, I'm such the wimpy beginner) but I really enjoyed the entire evening. And now since I'm a bit more ski savvy and know certain things like turning and stopping, I'll be on the 'grownup's' hill next week.
I keep telling myself 'new year, new habits'. I just hope I don't run out of year before my habits take hold!
